AR Standards Community Meeting
On October 24-25 from 9h00 to 18h00, the Community of people seeking open and interoperable Augmented Reality will conduct its Fourth Face-to-Face in Basel on the campus of the Business School of FHNW (Peter Merian-Strasse 86), co-located with ISMAR2011.The AR Standards Community is an ad hoc group of people working together to reduce barriers and establish open and interoperable AR protocols.
All those who are currently working towards open Augmented Reality interfaces via standards bodies are invited to present the status of their activities and participate in this active global community. Standards Development Organizations should describe their working group status and proposed standards for feedback. Additionally, companies and individuals who are interested or wish to contribute their projects to the advancement of AR standards are welcome.

Those planning to participate in the Fourth AR Standards community meeting should review the documentation of the first, second and third meetings which are all found on the portal. Review of the past position papers and joining the mailing lists for the community are highly recommended.
**Meeting Goals**
The face-to-face meetings are designed to promote the discussion between stakeholders of the ecosystem for the development of open and interoperable AR content and experiences.
In Basel at the Fourth meeting, we will:
- obtain reports on activities and discuss progress in relevant standards development organizations
- continue development of the community resources including but not limited to:
- AR Standards landscape and status of what each SDO we are tracking is doing in the area of AR
- AR vocabulary and definition of terms (also numerous posts on the mailing list)
- AR Use cases and Use case categories
- Open letter to AR-related subsystems providers and Communications plan
- initiate development of new community resources and
- discuss emerging challenges which may be addressed via standards or open source interfaces.
Additional objectives for this meeting will be formulated by the Program Committee members and co-chairs of the meeting.
**Position Papers**
In addition to the invited speaker presentations and moderated plenary collaborations, contributions to the community may be made in advance of the meeting in the form of position papers.
